The Coastal Carolina Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) and the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) are committed to inspiring the potential of this nation’s youth with the leadership skills, motivation, and technical competence to be future leaders of our nation. To achieve this, SAME and USMC collaborate annually to host an Engineering and Construction Camp at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC for high school students who excel in math, science, and technical courses and are interested in pursuing a college engineering or related education.
The focus and theme of this Camp is to interest high school students in the engineering profession through hands on activities in construction, team building, and learning under the mentorship of SAME members. Forty (40) students from communities throughout the United States, the Pacific and Europe will reside for one week in MCB Camp Lejeune barracks and engage in hands-on engineering and construction activities under the mentorship of SAME professionals and USMC staff cadre. The hands-on activities are intended to give students a broad exposure to the engineering profession. Local posts establish their own deadline for application prior to the National deadline, so be sure to check out the details with your local point of contact.
